Cafe Used in Original Children of the Corn Damaged by Fire
Some sad news......The Main Street Grill Cafe in Hornick IA was heavily damaged by a fire yesterday morning. The cafe, which was used for the interior shots of the opening adult massacre scene for the fictional Hansen's Cafe, had virtually stayed unchanged for the past 25 years as I had the pleasure of visiting it last year. It was to be one of my stops last October on my trip that was cancelled and was hoping to return there in a few months. Above is a picture from my trip in 2007 in front of the Main Street Grill Cafe as it is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. There is no word if it will be salvageable enough to rebuild but we will bring you all of the latest news as it becomes available to us. You can read the KTIV News Channel 4 report Here.
Merry Christmas from the Cornfield!
As I was traveling today, I happened to see a cornfield that hadn't been harvested and was still (somewhat) standing. I had been trying to think of how to do a Christmas blog that was corn-related, and I decided that was as good an idea as any! After I noticed the field, I wished I had worn my Children of the Corn shirt but sadly, had left it at home. If only Sarah had been there to draw some pictures.....
Anyway, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 2008 has been a busy year in the cornfield and 2009 looks to be even busier with the 25th anniversary, more interviews, and a few projects lined up that, if all goes well, we hope you all will be very happy about! And as always, we will continue to keep you posted on updates and any new Children of the Corn information as it comes our way.

Our Children of the Corn Interview Series Continues......
Have you visited our Myspace page lately? We are pleased to announce that we recently posted a very special interview with Jonas Seaman (Marlowe) which you can read here. Jonas, as I'm sure fans of the original Children of the Corn remember, played Joseph. A Gatlin native who tried to escape a certain thing in the rows only to have a nasty run-in with Malachai in the cornfield!
It was a pleasure to be able to bring you this insightful interview about the making of the 1984 horror classic and we hope you all enjoy it! Be sure to check out Jonas on his website at americanvirus and also on Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo, Flickriver and on his official Myspace page here.
